The Wedding of Mary Wakefield O’Neal & Bob Wilson July 19th, 2014 {Bay Area Weddings}

I had just stepped off the plane from Milano, when I realized that Mary and Bob would be getting on a similar airplane headed for Italia in a few days….  Along with a few friends…. haha…. As is customary with Mary and Bob’s travels and the life they have so beautifully brought together.  It only seemed ‘normal’ that they would share their bella la vita with 100 friends and family at their beautiful home in Lafayette.  I had met Mary through Lynn Reifsteck from  Vibe Studio – (shameless plug)… and Terri Thatcher.  How excited we were to find out that we would be able to be there and photograph their beautiful event. The details were exquisite, I’ll write about them soon with pics- the Brazilian fare was amazing. Barbara Llewellyn Catering and Event Planning did an amazing job!

For now… here’s the sneak peek!

Little Ballerinas! {Children’s Dance Photography}

With the holiday season approaching, they practiced to ‘Santa Baby’ getting ready for their big Holiday Performances!  These lil’ prima ballerinas are studying dance through Concord Parks and Rec.,  taught by our very own Stylist, Crystal Kent!  Joined by Shelly Waldman, who was in town for the weekend, we had our old team back in full swing.  I think one of the best parts of shooting these little stars is remembering being a little dreamer myself on Saturday mornings.  Of course back then the tights were itchy and my russian ballet mistress was extremely strict and hard to understand.  Crystal on the other hand is the perfect  ballet teacher.  She studied dance at UC Santa Cruz and mixes her enthusiasm for dance with her new mommy skills and does amazing things with these adorable little beauties.  When they found out that the point shoes they were holding belonged to a real ballerina, Mayo Sugano Raab who dances with  Diablo Ballet,  (Celebrating their 20th season,) they didn’t want to give them up!

Makeup Testing for Stylized Photo Sessions {High School Senior Portrait Photographer}

So we have been trying a few different makeup artists to see who works well for our portrait sessions and also for commercial sessions.  I did my first ‘call’ on facebook to see who would be interested in sitting for us to try out a few makeup girls.  Yes, Jessica and Rocelle are just not always available, so we need a few more to work with.  If you know anyone, let us know, we would love to test them out.  So we were lucky and found out that our cutie pie Katie, was available.  Katie goes to Acalanes High School and is a senior this year!  Like Tristan (my son, we will be entering into senior year filled with mixed feelings…)  Keep a watch, we will be posting more of the seniors we shoot in the upcoming months.  These are not Katie’s senior portraits, but they’re really beautiful.  What do you think of the makeup?  Too much?  Too little, just right?  Let us know your opinion and we’ll enter you in a chance to win a $150. gift card from Studio Fotographica!

FAQ:

What is a Mini Session?

A mini session is a shortened version of our regular family portrait photography session, without all the bells and whistles. Basically it allows us to get a few great family shots of your entire clan and then spend a little time getting breakout shots of just the kids, a few individual shots and perhaps a few candids. It is ideal for families who simply want some updated family shots for their holiday cards, Facebook, or frames. It is not ideal for those seeking lots of great candids or those who want outfit changes or a wide range of background looks.  With mini sessions, there simply is not enough time to capture a great deal of emotional images inside of 30 minutes – you really need a full hour plus for that. Mini sessions move quickly so it’s imperative you arrive a few minutes early (5-10) so that you and your family are ready to go.

What is the max number of people we can have for a Mini Session?

You can have up to 5 people max. {Sorry, no pets during the mini Hacienda de las Flores sessions, but four legged family fur balls are welcome during all other mini sessions. However, a regular one hour plus session is better suited for pets.} If you have 6 or more people, we would love to book you for our regular holiday portrait sessions, which are 1 hour+.

How do I book our spot?

All sessions are booked first come, first serve. Please select your desired date and time (see below) and email us what you would like to book it. We will send you a contract within 48 hours and take a $100 deposit to hold your spot. Deposits are non-refundable, unless you or we are able to rebook your spot.

Oct 2 – Modesto: 30 mins slots between 9:00am -12:30pm – miss it… join us this coming Sunday.
Oct 9 – Moraga: 30 min slots between 1:00pm-6:00pm – Six slots left – Hurry!
Nov 20 – Walnut Creek: 30 min time slots between 10:00am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-4pm

We want to do a full family session instead of the Mini Session. Are you offering special packages for those?

Yes, we are! Please email me the dates above that will work best for you and your preferred time slots, and we will send you more info.  If none of the dates above will work for you, please let us know what dates you are looking for and we can see if we are available. {Please note that our availability is rather limited this fall, which is why we offer the mini sessions on select dates, so that we can provide sessions to as many people as possible.}

Can I purchase a mini session for someone else?

Studio Fotographica offers gift certificates which make it easy for you to gift a portrait session. Email us and let us know how much you would like to make the gift certificate for, who it is to (first and last names) and where you would like to have it delivered. You are welcome to pick it up from the studio or have us delivery it.

I have more questions. How should I reach you?

Just email us here and we’ll be happy to answer your questions as quickly as possible.

High School Senior Session | Amazing Session with Kendall {Walnut Creek and Orinda Theater}

What pure joy it was to meet, friend and photograph Kendall. All of us at the studio were in awe of this young woman. Her summer was full of travel, first to Ireland, France and a quick stop in London with her family. Then at the end of the summer Kendall and her mom went with Children of Grace to Uganda to teach children in orphanages. It’s definitely an experience she will certainly not forget.

Kendall has a huge heart and is passionate about giving back. She has spent many vacations in Mexico building houses and working with children. If you ever have the pleasure to hear her talk about her time abroad you will feel moved and inspired.

She’s really excited about her senior year, researching colleges in various cities that have a combined medical program. Meaning that if you are excepted for the undergraduate program, you are also excepted into the medical program. Her goal is to be a doctor, which seems fitting with her passion.

Five things you may not know about Kendall:

1. She LOVES to eat dessert.

2. Both her parents are dentists (which seems ironic considering number 1).

3. She loves to bake with her brother, boyfriend and her friends.

4. Her family likes to host movie nights in their backyard with the fireplace turned on to keep everyone cozy.

5. She loves Seattle and is looking into applying at University of Washington.
